Family/Friends

Families and friends are very important to people who have a brain injury or neurological condition.

Headway Suffolk understands that this is a life changing event for you too.  We know  that your role has changed and the chances are you have not been trained for it, but you want to do your best for your family member.

Family and friends do great work caring for our clients.  We are here to help you.

We can give you respite by your family member attending Headway, where you know they are safe with us, gaining valuable rehabilitation and having fun.

We can offer you counselling as an individual or as a couple.  You can join a Headway carers’ support group and talk to others in a similar situation.

We are at the end of the phone.

Young Families

Are you a parent of a young child with an acquired brain injury?  Our counselling service has created the following poems to use as a conversation starter with children about the changes which occur following a brain injury.  This was at the request of a couple of young mums who attended one of our Understanding Brain Injury courses.

Poem – Mummy has a poorly head
Poem – Daddy has bumped his head
