Statement from Headways in Suffolk

JOINT PRESS RELEASE BY HEADWAY IPSWICH AND EAST SUFFOLK & HEADWAY WEST SUFFOLK

Headway Ipswich and East Suffolk and Headway West Suffolk are excited to announce that the two charities, who look after people with a neurological condition, will merge to create Headway Suffolk on 1 April.

This will make Headway a stronger organisation which can deliver a wide range of support throughout our county for people with a neurological condition.  Both Headways are in positive positions in respects of stability and offering excellent services to those who have sustained an acquired brain injury or neurological condition across Suffolk, and therefore firmly believe it is the perfect opportunity to bring the services together.

Headway Suffolk has two rehabilitation centres, one in Ipswich and the other in Bury St Edmunds.  The Charity employs a speech and language therapist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist and counsellors.  Headway is registered to offer a specialised home care service delivered by staff trained in care, rehabilitation and neurological conditions.  Some staff specialise in just one condition.

Headway Suffolk also delivers support in the community which can be helping people with shopping, housework, a leisure activity, study, volunteering or employment.

Headway Suffolk will be hosting a launch event on Thursday 12 June from 2pm- 6pm at Haughley Barns.  We would like to invite all funders, clients, carers and everyone who is interested in the services that Headway offers in Suffolk to the event.
