New Headway service for Mildenhall

Headway Suffolk launches a new satellite hub service in Mildenhall on April 12 at the newly-refurbished Jubilee Centre in Recreation Way for adults with an acquired brain injury or neurological condition.

It will operate every Tuesday from 10.00am – 3.00pm to help its users develop skills and improve cognitive abilities in a supportive environment through rehabilitation activities.

The Jubilee Centre has undergone a major £750,000 refurbishment from Mildenhall Parish Council over the last 10 months, and is ideally suited being very close to the town centre and bus station.

Headway had opened a service at St John’s Community Centre last June but this closed due to a shortage in referrals and the centre’s out of town location.

However, following new referrals and interest from GP surgeries and health professionals, coupled with the Jubillee’s central and accessible location, we feel it will be a successful service this time around.

The service has been part-funded by fundraising from the family and friends of Simon Dobbin, the football supporter from Mildenhall who sustained brain damage following an assault after a match in Southend last March.

As well as its main rehabilitation hubs in Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich, Headway Suffolk also operates satellite hubs in Haverhill, Eye, Woodbridge and Felixstowe.
