Countdown To Headway Conference

Headway Suffolk’s second annual Neuro Conference is sold out with up to 800 people attending across two venues on Wednesday 5 October.

Over 500 will attend at BT Adastral Park in Martlesham Heath, with a further 260 at The Conference Centre in Kesgrave.

Tickets for just £30 each were swiftly snapped up following the announcement that the headline speaker would be world-renowned professor and theoretical physicist Stephen Hawking.

The 74-year-old, author of international bestseller A Brief History of Time and subject of multiple award-winning 2014 biographical film The Theory of Everything, has defied medics for over 50 years after contracting amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) in 1963, a form of Motor Neurone Disease, at the age of 21.

He will speak of his life with the condition as an inspiration to others.

As well as Prof Hawking, the Conference also features three other guest speakers all experts in their field:

  • Professor John Pickard – Director of the Wolfson Brain Imaging Centre at Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
  • Dr Trevor Powell – Consultant Clinical Psychologist and author of multiple head injury publications.
  • Dr Muhibbur Rahman Chowdhury – Stroke Consultant at Ipswich Hospital.

Delegates will also be updated by Rebecca Hopfensperger, Suffolk County Council Cabinet Member for Adult Care, as well as Headway Suffolk and event sponsors Irwin Mitchell.
