About

Headway Suffolk’s mission is to provide a full range of services to people and their families affected by any form of brain injury or neurological condition, enabling them to reach their full potential. Click to read more.

Our staff are trained to support adults with all forms of brain injury and neurological conditions, including stroke, dementia, Parkinson’s disease and Huntington’s disease.

We have two hubs in Ipswich and Bury St Edmunds where we provide structured and tailored activities to help clients with their skills and rehabilitation. They’re also invaluable in meeting others in similar situations. Whilst in a safe and stimulating environment with skilled staff, family carers can gain much needed respite.

We also provide three monthly social support groups for people living with dementia. Click for full details.

Our Homecare and Community Support service is rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.

We provide a bespoke service in a client’s own home or local community to support with independent living and daily living skills. This can include getting in and out of bed, personal care, taking medication, preparing a meal, cleaning, washing, shopping, carrying out a hobby or taking part in a leisure activity.

This is provided at a time that suits you and is a non-rushed service.

We employ two physiotherapists, an occupational therapist and a registered nurse. They are on hand to provide their skills and experience to support clients through any difficulties they are having.

Thanks to our links with local supermarkets, Headway Suffolk offers a Free Shop to all clients, providing food and other household essentials for those in need.

Our much-loved Brainy Dogs is unique to Headway Suffolk. The project takes rescue dogs, who are trained by prisoners and others whose lives have been affected by mental ill-health, exclusion from education and criminal behaviour, to become companion dogs.

Some dogs live with clients as pets and others become centre dogs, which the clients can walk, groom and feed for therapy. Find out more about Brainy Dogs.

Our clinical therapy team run Understanding Brain Injury courses for clients to understand the effects of their injury. Click for more details.

Headway Suffolk values funding towards its services through company sponsorship and public donations.
